Annie Lanzillotto recently read these poems in Steve's honor, at the Barnes & Noble at 84th and Broadway, Steve's old neighborhood.
1.
Listen to the loud ones, too.
Their incessant rants you're sick of hearing
will one day cease, and you'll wish
you could hear them just once more.
2.
I almost remember
conversations we had,
the rush of your voice,
the loud break of your laughter,
your willingness to extend the evening
to its max, but the words,
the words don't fly back to me.
The words are gone, black specks in the sky,
on rooftops, gables, branches quivering.

Thanks for your input to the Steve Blog. Learning about him through one another's stories is something we can continue to enjoy, beyond his passing. May his vision, work and passions live on through our paths, and be invigorated by our stories, sharings, and dialogues.
Thanks, from niece Audrey Kindred
